This Privacy Policy explains what information the Muhtadun mobile app and the Muhtadun website (muhtadun.com) collect, why, and the choices you have. Muhtadun is a free Islamic du’a and dhikr app offered as an ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah). We designed it to respect your privacy: we show no ads, we never sell your data, and the core features work without any account.
Scope of this policy
This policy applies to the Muhtadun mobile app for iOS and Android, and to the website at muhtadun.com. It describes the data we collect, how it is processed, and your rights. Where a section applies only to the app or only to the website, we say so.
Our principles
This service was built on principles we do not compromise:
- We show no advertisements.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone.
- We use no advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
- The core features of the app work without registration; no account is forced on you.
- We collect the minimum data needed to keep the app working and to improve it.
Data we collect in the app
When you use the app, a limited amount of data is processed through Google Firebase to keep the app reliable and to help us improve it:
Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics)
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example, which screens are opened and which features are used — so we can improve it. These events are collected in an anonymized form. We deliberately do not record the content of the du’as you read, and we do not log your emotional-state selections in any way that identifies you personally.
Notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
If, and only if, you enable notifications, the app registers a device push token with Firebase Cloud Messaging. We use this token solely to send you reminder and announcement notifications. We do not use it for advertising. You can revoke it at any time by turning off notifications for Muhtadun in your device’s system settings.
Crash and performance diagnostics
The app uses Firebase to collect crash reports and basic performance diagnostics (such as error logs and app-stability data). This helps us find and fix problems. These reports may include technical device information but are not used to identify you personally.
What we do not collect
To be clear about what we do not do:
- We do not require an account to use the core features.
- We do not collect your name, phone number, or contacts from the app.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not record the specific du’as you read or your emotional-state selections in a personally identifiable way.
- We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
How we use data
We process the limited data above only to: keep the app working reliably; diagnose crashes and improve performance; understand aggregate usage so we can improve features; and, if you opt in, send you reminders and announcements. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.
Data processors and international transfers
We rely on Google Firebase, a service provided by Google LLC, as our data processor for analytics, notifications, and diagnostics. Because Google operates a global infrastructure, your data may be processed and stored on Google’s servers located outside your country of residence. Google processes this data on our behalf under its own terms and safeguards.
Data retention
Usage analytics are retained according to Firebase’s default retention settings. Notification tokens are kept while notifications remain enabled and are removed when you disable them or uninstall the app. You may request deletion of any data associated with your device at any time — see “Your rights” below.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email us at contact@muhtadun.com from the address you wish us to act on, and tell us what you would like us to do.
Because the app does not use accounts, deletion requests are handled at the device level; for analytics and diagnostics we will delete or anonymize data associated with your device identifier where technically possible. We aim to respond within a reasonable time. These rights are offered to all users and are intended to be compatible with data-protection frameworks such as the GDPR; we do not claim any certification we do not hold.
Children
Muhtadun is general-audience religious content. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
The website (muhtadun.com)
This section covers the Muhtadun website at muhtadun.com.
Contact form: when you send a message through the site, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide, and process them through Brevo (operated by Sendinblue GmbH) for the sole purpose of receiving and answering your message.
Launch list: if you check the optional box to be notified when the app launches, your email address is stored in our Brevo contact list until you unsubscribe, and is used only to send that announcement.
We do not use advertising cookies on the website, and we do not share website contact data with advertisers or data brokers.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data we process. Data transmitted between the app or website and our processors is protected using encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves or as the law requires. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here; please review this page periodically.
Governing law
Muhtadun is an initiative operated from Morocco. This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Morocco, without prejudice to any mandatory data-protection rights you may have under the laws of your own country of residence.
